As we journey on the quest to discover what is a man, we need to understand the foundations of a man. These foundations were laid down in the beginning of time.
Genesis chapter 2 says the following:
“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground — trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food…..
…..The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
So, here is the first man, made in the image of God with the “breath of life” breathed into him. The first thing God does with this man, Adam, is place him in a garden and say to him “work the garden and take care of it”.
As men, as mankind, we are made to work, take care of, and enjoy the fruit of our labour.
